Elisabeth Sladen4/20/11 — We're very sad to report the death of one of the most popular Doctor Who actors of all time, Elisabeth Sladen, known the world over for her portrayal of Sarah Jane Smith. Sarah Jane was a companion for 3 and a half seasons with Doctors Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker (1973 - 1976). She returned to the show for its 20th Anniversary in "The Five Doctors" alongside Doctor Peter Davison (1983) and again for its 30th Anniversary in "Dimensions in Time" (1993). She did two series of audio adventures for Big Finish before returning to the television show next to David Tennant's Doctor in "School Reunion" (2006) and for numerous subsequent appearances. She gained her own spin-off series, The Sarah Jane Adventures in 2007, which ran for four seasons and was filming its fifth season upon her passing.

Tom Baker: "Sarah Jane dead? No, impossible! Impossible. Only last week I agreed to do six new audio adventures with her for Big Finish Productions. She can't be dead. But she is: she died yesterday morning. Cancer. I had no idea she was ill; she was so private, never wanted any fuss, and now, gone. A terrible blow to her friends and a shattering blow for all those fans of the programme whose lives were touched every Saturday evening by her lovely heroic character, Sarah-Jane Smith. Those sweet memories of happy days with Lis Sladen, the lovely, witty, kind and so talented Lis Sladen. I am consoled by the memories. I was there, I knew her, she was good to me and I shall always be grateful, and I shall miss her."

Colin Baker: "Very sad to hear of the death of Lis Sladen. Great sympathy for her husband and daughter. She was far too young to be lost to them."

David Tennant: "I just can't believe that Lis is gone. She seemed invincible. The same woman who enchanted my childhood, enchanted my time on Doctor Who and enchanted generations who have watched her and fallen in love with her – just like I did. I feel very honoured to have shared a TARDIS with Sarah Jane Smith, and I feel very lucky to have shared some time with Lis Sladen. She was extraordinary."

Matt Smith: "What struck me about Lis was her grace. She welcomed me, educated me, and delighted me with her tales and adventures on Doctor Who. And she also seemed to have a quality of youth that not many people retain as they go through life. Her grace and kindness will stay with me because she had such qualities in abundance and shared them freely. I will miss her, as will the world of Doctor Who and all the Doctors that had the good pleasure to work with Lis Sladen and travel the universe with Sarah Jane."

We will be doing a tribute to Ms. Sladen, as well as to Nicholas Courtney, at TimeGate this year.

TimeGate T-Shirt3/27/11 — Announcing: New shirt available on CafePress! We have a new t-shirt, which was designed by Daniel Pierce, available for purchase on CafePress. This new design (shown here) features a Stargate hanging in space with the TARDIS as the "I" in the TimeGate logo. I've order my own copy (for quality inspection purposes) and the image is incredibly vivid on the shirt. The design is available on not only shirts, but mugs, bags, iPhone and iPad cases, shot glasses ... just about anything you can imagine. There are other TimeGate designs too, plus Doctor Who, Stargate and other things as well. Proceeds from purchases will go towards booking flights for TimeGate Guests! You can find the new shirt here.

3/1/11 — We're very pleased to announce the launch of our new YouTube Channel: "Through the TimeGate"! This is new forum where we will explore topics of interest to the TimeGate audience. We're launching with three 'official' videos: a report from ConNooga, a report from TrekTrax, and coverage of book signing by Jana Oliver. The channel will continue to grow and expand, so please subscribe so that you'll see all the updates! We'll be featuring the videos here as well. Visit the Channel at www.youtube.com/ThroughTheTimeGate or get a little preview by checking out the new vlog page of our website!

Nicholas Courtney2/22/11 — It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Nicholas Courtney at age 81. Courtney, of course, portrayed the rigidly trustworthy Brigadier Alaistar Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart in 107 episodes of Doctor Who as well as reprising the role in 2009 on The Sarah Jane Adventures. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

On his website, Tom Baker wrote: "Of all the characters in Doctor Who there is no doubt that he was the most loved by the fans for his wonderful portrayal of the rather pompous Brigadier. 'Five rounds rapid' was the line we all loved, always addressed to Sergeant Benton. Nick's close friends simply adored him. He was a wonderful companion and his friends would call each other or email to relate the latest little stories of a night out with the Brig...We shall miss him terribly."

1/20/11 — Major Guest announcement today! We're very pleased to announce that, fresh from his stint on Stargate Universe, we have Mr. Mike Dopud. Mike played Varro, one of the Lucian Alliance members. He was introduced at the end of Season One and has remained a recurring guest character since then. But Mike's association with Stargate doesn't begin and end with Universe: He also had roles in SG-1 and Atlantis. Plus, you may recognize him from appearances in Caprica, Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, Blade: The Series and many others. Plus, he's done stunt work in films such as Tron: Legacy, Watchmen, 2012, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Rise of the Silver Surfer and many others. We're very excited to have Mike on board!
